Where we Started
This is how we started. We literally had nothing. we found a Tent at a yard sale for 5$ and found a bench seat from a Van. He built like a Teepee and put plastic on it so we could sit outside without getting rained on. It was summer so Rain was really the only thing we needed to worry about.
We were both single when we met. I was already 4 years into court cases , DR. appointments and paper work for Social Security Disability. It was a struggle. We were Homeless in a city I was unfamiliar with so He did not want to leave me alone. He did everything he could to help make me as comfortable as you can be in our situation. He did odd jobs that he could take me with him on to make a few bucks. He would volunteer at a Food Pantry to Help our food situation better. Now this Food Pantry was more than just a regular old food pantry. these are wonderful people that truly help the homeless. and in return most of the homeless would jump in and help as well. Jordan's Crossing is truly a life saver. They gave to new comers, a small propane stove and 2 propane Colman tanks.
They also hand out a Bag of hygiene products, cots to sleep on, blankets, batteries and many other little things you may need to survive on.
If you were homeless without a Tent they would provide a small single person tent to keep you inside while you slept. They also Provided meals 5 days a week, Groceries 3 days a week and a Dinner on Fridays. they are quite remarkable people with real hearts for those less fortunate.
I guess I should explain we lived on the other side of a Cemetary Gate.
I have many many more photos I will insert as I tell my story when it applies. I should also say we had a Mini Van. we were the lucky ones.
since we had a van, we had Electricity as well ( when we had Gasoline). I also had a Cell Phone which my Mother paid for. We kept the cemetery clean trash was taken to a dumpster every day. We did our best to stay out of the public eye, The city frowns upon the homeless if you can be seen. We were able to stay in this location for 5 months. I loved it there. It was quiet and Peaceful. I will always remember my time there. Over time our Camp site got better and better. We came across 2 bigger and newer tents and came across a kitchen table to do cooking and dishes on.
Welcome to Jason and Chelle's Journey!
